Lori-Ogbebor rejects Uduaghan’s Christmas gifts
Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor, the Igba of Warri, has rejected the Christmas gifts sent to her by Delta State Government.
In an open letter addressed to the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Chief Lori-Ogbebor stated that she returned the cow, rice and other gifts due to her disappointment in Uduaghan’s administration.
She said: “By now, you already know my stand on the way you run the administration of Delta State. I feel unhappy and depressed to see the state and Itsekiriland declining from the time you assumed office.
“I have spoken to you as a mother to a son. Itsekiri riverine areas are declining educationally and economically. The way our land is today shows no planning or foresight. There is no creation of jobs, neither is there adequate security of lives and property. For many years, there has been fighting and bloodletting in Escravos. In fact, things have got worse since you became governor.”
Twitter Comments: Osaze apologises
Osaze Odemwingie has said he regrets his sensational Twitter comments, which he made after Coach Stephen Keshi left him out of Super Eagles preliminary list for the 2013 Afcon camp in Portugal. The player said Keshi was not fair to him.
However, the England-based forward said his mistakes were made in a fit of anger after he had made it known to his coach and colleagues that he was set to travel for the Nations Cup in South Africa.
In a no-holds-bar interview, the WBA star surprisingly admitted making some of the comments credited to him, but was also quick to make some clarifications on calling Green names, saying what he attacked was the decision to exclude him.
He described Green as a good man and one of the few on the NFF board alongside the president, Aminu Maigari, who he knows personally, and would not want to offend, though his anger has portrayed him to be at “war with everybody”.“I remember it was Green who settled my case with Siasia then, but I was too angry when he called me over this matter, and was impatient to listen to him,” he now said.

Covenant University expels 200 students for not attending Church service
About 200 students may have been expelled by the authorities of Covenant University, Cannanland, Ota, Ogun State, recently for what was described as “disregard of paramount core values.”
Frustrated and angered by the development, some of the affected students who gave account of what happened battled emotions while narrating their situations to Saturday Vanguard recently. They however pleaded with the school authorities to tamper justice with mercy in order to save their future.
Saturday Vanguard investigation revealed that out of the figure, about 126 were expelled for not attending the ‘departure service’, meant to sign off from the school after the end of the Semester and Matriculation of students on November 30. Five other students were thrown out for smoking while unconfirmed source said additional 60 got the same fate for violating other rules bordering on the University’s core values. A few others were given four weeks suspension for failure to sign the head count that was conducted a couple of weeks earlier.
A letter of expulsion signed by the Registrar, Ntia Ubong, a copy which was made available to Saturday Vanguard stated that the affected students contravened Chapter 1, section 30, page 40 of the 2010-2014 Student Handbook.
We gathered that the massive expulsion was predicated on the anger of the Chancellor, Bishop David Oyedepo who was said to have been infuriated after seeing students loitering around when they were supposed to be at the Chapel for the Departure Service.
He was said to have personally chased students to the Chapel and ordered for a search into all the halls and colleges to fish out those who did not attend the service.
Several attempts to get the school authorities comment on the issue proved abortive. The Instituion’s Corporate Affairs Head, Mr Igban Emmaunel also refused to comment as calls pulled through to him were unanswered and text messages not replied.

Janet Jackson’s Sexy Fiancee Wissam Al Mana
the third time will hopefully be the charm for Janet Jackson, who just got engaged to her Qatari billionaire beau Wissam Al Mana. The 37-year-old mogul popped the question to the 46-year-old pop singer earlier this year using”a huge, expensive ring” to pledge his devotion, a source told Us Weekly. “She’s afraid it will get lost, so she keeps it locked up!” the source said. While this may be the third marriage for Jackson after splitting ways with James DeBarge and René Elizondo—not to mention her highly publicized relationship with music producer Jermaine Dupri—Al Mana will reportedly spare no expense to throw her a dream wedding. “The affair will cost millions,” revealed an insider. “He is flying in all of Janet’s friends and family on private jets. He wants to get a top chef to create a custom menu.”

FRSC Pegs Its Drivers Age At 26
Kwara State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Christopher Ademoluti, on Wednesday said the FRSC had put the minimum age of commercial drivers in Nigeria at 26.
Speaking during the inauguration of the commercial driving licence in Ilorin, Ademoluti also said underage commercial drivers were responsible for some of the road crashes in the country.
He said, “We want to put the minimum age of a commercial driver in Nigeria at 26 to enable them to have the experience, maturity and expertise to drive and convey people, unlike the current system where we have underage people driving commercial vehicles.
“With the new driving licence, we want to have all the data of the commercial drivers.
“We don’t want to have a driver who drives 18-seater bus to endanger the lives of the 18 people. It is only one commercial driver that dies where 18 people die.”
He stated that the upgraded National Drivers Licence would help reduce accidents.
According to him, the NDL contains the data of commercial drivers and would serve as checks on them.
