Facebook to Launch Verified Pages and Profiles for Brands and Celebrities

Facebook to Launch Verified Pages and Profiles for Brands and Celebrities
Facebook announced to launch an update to its business product “Facebook Pages”. It’s never too late for good things to come. Twitter is using verified accounts since long and is also one reason of trust by users on celeb tweets. Google+ social networking has embedded exclusive verification service & coverage to politicians, celebrities, companies and registered organizations.

Facebook has recently rolled update for business page. And it will soon be available for profiles also. The feature was long in demand but bit late to release after lot of duplicated profile hypes in media. Facebook will remove the duplicated and unverified accounts after the original person claims its. After the company completes a verification process, a small tick mark in blue color will appear on left side of name of business, celeb page or profile. This small blue mark will differentiate the account holder or administrator in search results of search engines, timeline and tagging.
The following groups can enjoy these benefits.
  • Celebrities
  • Government officials
  • Journalists
  • Politicians
  • Registered business with proper registration number which can be verified
  • Registered trademarks or brands with verifiable documents
Official press release indicates Selena Gomez as verified celebrity and the preview shows a blue mark too. There are many profiles which show Selena with Justin Bieber and post continuous updates. It will not continue like this. Both will have their independent profiles which will be verified as routine procedure.
Many profiles and pages would be deleted too. Many American politicians’ pages would be doomed as President Barack Obama, Michele Obama and senators. It will take time for the verification process to complete. The official press release has not identified the step by step guide on how famous celebs can get the blue mark to increase level of trust. Multi national brands are going under many duplicated accounts. They will also need to address these issues. For example, when you search Facebook for one Nestle brand, many pages appear claiming to be the original and company owned. But that is not true for all.
