Senior Lawyer, Yahaya Mahmud Found Dead In His Office

Yahaya Mahmud, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was yesterday evening found dead in his private office in Kaduna. Family members are yet to ascertain the cause of his death, but he will be buried today according to Islamic rites.
Mahmud was a lawyer to several prominent Northerners, including a former Nigerian military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida and to the present governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko. Before his death served as the chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure in Ondo State.
His last public outing was last Monday in Kaduna when he presented a memo [on behalf of Kaduna State] to the committee saddled with organizing the proposed National Dialogue, during the North-West Zone public hearing.
Mahmud, a former magistrate court judge, hailed from Zaria, Kaduna State.
