Waje! Omawumi! Divas on fire on the new cover of Y! Magazine! + Exclusive Nigerian photos & features from #London2012

We totally love this one! The new edition of Y! has as its cover music divas Waje and Omawumi – who are two of the hottest brands on the scene at the moment, in a shoot anchored by the iconic KelechiAmadi-Obi and styled by YemiOlowu and OnyinyeFafi-Obi.
In the interview the women who have been called sisters talk about just how far they’ve come and why they’re the women to beat. “It was a fun conversation on a beautiful Monday afternoon,” said associate editor, HauwaGambo. “They spoke about growing up, about meeting each other, about breaking through the market, about performing outside the country, about their friendship and even more beautifully, about their children.”

The singers also talked about their experiences performing in the United Kingdom, in keeping with the theme of this edition – which was focused on profiling Nigeria’s relationship with the United Kingdom in the period of the London 2012 Olympics.
“This is why we’re the high priest of the youth culture,” Gambo said. “We completely had fun with this issue – our writers, editors, stylists and contributors hitting the United Kingdom over a period of six weeks getting all the sexiest stories about the Olympics and about Nigeria’s connection to London – you’ll laugh, you’ll sigh, you’ll be provoked and you’ll be inspired!”
As usual, the magazine also includes the BlackBerry-powered #Hashtag pages of music, movies, television and places – including interviews with Susan Peters (talking about her public feud with blogger, Linda Ikeji!) Project Fame’s ChyDinma, Ruby Gyang, BezIdakulaand photos with OC UKeje and LalaAkindoju at the UK’s Theatre Royal Stratford East and a “Sport-on” fashion shoot.
There’s also an exclusive interview with Omobola Johnson, who is Minister of Communication Technology, ToluOgunlesi’s London 2012 Olympics photo-diary, a “real-life” interview with four bus drivers, and more as Y! continues to focus on an ideal of a magazine that’s extremely well written, with editorials that are well thought out, and painstaking attention to every detail.
